Turn clay into art—create, carve, and craft your way!
This four-session beginner course is designed for anyone who wants to learn wheel throwing and create both functional and decorative pottery pieces. Across four classes, students gain hands-on experience with throwing, trimming, and carving while completing a collection of projects.
Projects You’ll Create
Mug with Handle — Learn to throw cylinders and attach handles to create a functional mug.
Ramen Bowl — Develop shaping skills to form a wide, balanced bowl.
Carved Vase — Create a decorative vase and explore carving techniques for texture and design.
Finishing Your Work
After bisque firing, students may return for one complimentary painting session to decorate their pieces using studio glazes and supplies. The studio will handle the final glazing and firing, so your finished ceramics are ready to use and enjoy.
Skills You’ll Gain
The techniques taught in this course provide a strong foundation for throwing larger forms and advancing into more complex pottery projects.
Studio Practice Access
Students are encouraged to return after the course to continue practicing. Wheel rentals and open studio days are available and can be reserved online or by calling Manna Pottery.
